Put dates and checkmarks in the right places
October 31, 2026
Decide whether the box is a field
A printed square on a PDF may be an interactive checkbox or just artwork. Open the form, choose Select & move and try the square. If it is a highlighted field, click it to set its value. Use the form control already there. A printed box that does nothing needs an added mark instead. Choose Checkmark and click inside it, then return to Select & move to adjust the position.
Work through one group at a time. On a form with Yes and No boxes, read the question again before placing the mark. An unchecked box is often a meaningful answer; do not add checks to every square merely because they are visible.
Use the date the form requires
Today’s date places a date mark on the page. It is useful when the form asks for the date you are completing it. Read the label first: a service date, birth date, travel date or approval date may be different. For a different date, use Add text and type the required value. The date is part of the visible page, not a clock setting that updates after download.
Click near the start of the date line, then inspect the whole value. Month/day order varies between forms. Spell out the month if the recipient allows it and ambiguity would matter. If the page has three separate little boxes, use text that fits each box rather than squeezing a long date across the printed dividers.
Check copies and the finished file
You can select an added checkmark or date and use Copy to page with Duplicate selected when the same mark belongs elsewhere. A copy is a separate item, so move it into the new box and verify the meaning there. A copied date can be wrong if that second page asks for a different event. Existing interactive fields cannot be duplicated this way.
Use Review & download to visit every page with additions. Look for a check that has slipped over a label or a date that covers a signature line. Open the downloaded PDF and inspect it at normal viewing size. Document Forge flattens filled fields on export; keep the untouched original if you need those fields again.
If several boxes are close together, zoom in before clicking. Return to Fit page afterward and read the entire question, since a perfectly centered check can still be in the wrong answer box.
