Is this really free, including the download?
Yes. Open, fill, sign, and download without paying or creating an account. There are no watermarks, hidden export charges, or free-trial limits.
Can I fill out a scanned PDF?
Yes. Use Add text, Checkmark, and Signature to place information over the page. Scans don’t have editable text fields, and this tool doesn’t convert handwriting into searchable text or rewrite the original PDF text.
Is this a digital signature?
Document Forge adds a visible electronic signature that you draw or type. It does not issue a certificate-based digital signature, verify identity, collect recipient consent, or create a signing audit trail. Whether a signature is suitable depends on the document, applicable law, and the recipient’s requirements. Confirm those requirements first.
What happens when I clear or close the tab?
The app discards your working document, edits, and signature. There is no server document to wipe or recover. Download first: unsaved work won’t survive a refresh or a new session. Clear cannot delete your original file, downloads, screenshots, or copies managed by your browser or device.
Which PDFs can I use?
Standard, unencrypted PDFs up to 25 MB and 100 pages. Most text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns are supported. Password-protected files, XFA forms, and documents with existing certificate signatures are not supported. Complex or unusual PDFs may render differently; always review your downloaded copy.
Can I edit the file after downloading?
You can continue editing in the current session and download a fresh copy. Downloads contain flattened form entries and visible signatures, so recipients can view them without special software. Reopening a downloaded copy lets you add new marks, but doesn’t turn flattened content back into editable fields.
How do I fill out a PDF without printing?
Open the PDF in Document Forge. Click highlighted form fields to type, or choose Add text to place a new entry. Use Checkmark for a mark and Signature to draw or type your signature. Choose Download PDF when you are finished, then open the saved copy to check it before sending it.
Does my PDF upload to a server?
No. The editor reads and processes your PDF on your device. We do not receive its contents, filename, form entries, or signature. Optional website Analytics and feedback are separate; see our privacy policy for what they collect.
What if the download does not start?
After Document Forge prepares your copy, choose Save prepared PDF. Check your browser’s download panel and download permissions. Keep this tab open until you have opened and checked the saved file. Your work cannot be recovered after you clear or close the session.
Can I use Document Forge on my phone?
Yes, in a modern browser with PDF file selection and downloads. You can type into fields, draw a signature with your finger, and place text using Add at center. For a large form, a wider screen makes positioning easier. Browser download and file-picker behavior can vary.
