When to use a fillable field or Add text

Test the page before adding marks
Many PDFs mix interactive form fields with printed lines that only look interactive. Open the file and choose Select & move. Highlighted fields can accept typed text, checkbox values or dropdown choices. Click one and use its own control. If a line is just part of the page, clicking it will not create a field. Choose Add text, click near that line, type the answer and place it over the page.
This choice avoids two common errors: putting an extra text block over a working field and assuming a printed blank will save an answer typed somewhere else. Work from the top of the page so it is easy to compare each label with its answer.
Handle long and repeated answers
A fillable field may have a length limit or a fixed visible area. Do not cover it with an added text mark merely to force a longer response; the recipient may expect the actual field value. Follow the form’s instructions or ask for a suitable version. For a non-fillable area, Add text accepts line breaks, and the text size control can help it fit. If the answer still crosses another question, split it into smaller blocks or use a clearer source form.
Duplicate selected works on added marks such as text, checkmarks, dates and signatures. It does not copy existing form fields. If the same name appears in several interactive fields, enter it in each one. If you copy added text, check that the wording is truly the same on the destination page.
Look at the final flattened PDF
Review & download shows changed fields and added marks separately. Use its page links to revisit anything that appears in the wrong place. Prepare the file and open the actual download. Confirm that both field answers and overlaid text are visible. A field can look filled in the editor yet still deserve a final check in another viewer.
Export flattens the filled fields, so a downloaded copy is useful for reading and sending but will not bring those original editable fields back when reopened. Keep the unfilled source if you need to prepare another version. Document Forge does not rewrite printed text or perform OCR on scanned pages.
When a field is read-only, do not place text over it without understanding why. The form owner may have locked it intentionally; ask for a usable version if that answer must change.
