Fix text you added to a PDF

October 31, 2026

Find the mark you need to fix

An added answer can look like part of the form once it sits on a line. To change it, open the working PDF in Document Forge and choose Select & move. Click the text you placed on the page. The selection is the added mark; the original printed words underneath are not editable. If clicking opens a highlighted form field instead, you are dealing with a real field, which you can edit directly. This distinction matters when a line and your added answer overlap.

If the answer is on another page, use the page number control or the Pages strip to reach it. The thumbnails show the original pages, so look for the mark on the full editor page. Zoom to 150% or 200% when a short word sits close to a printed label.

Change the answer without covering the page

For wording that needs replacing, select the added text and use Remove selected, then choose Add text and place the corrected answer. The text dialog accepts multiple lines, but a compact answer is easier to position on a narrow form. You can choose text size and ink color in the tool panel. Place the new block, switch to Select & move, and drag it until the first letter and last letter both sit inside the intended space.

If you only need to reposition a correct answer, leave the wording alone and move the existing mark. Check adjacent boxes and instructions after moving it. A long answer can run over the next field even when its starting point looks right. Use several smaller text blocks when the form has separate boxes.

Recover from a wrong move

Undo reverses a recent edit; Redo restores an undone one. If the result is confusing, use them one step at a time and look at the page after each step. Do not use Clear document as an undo shortcut: Clear discards the entire browser session after confirmation. If you accidentally duplicated a mark, select the extra copy and remove it. Existing fillable fields and added text behave differently; Duplicate selected is for added marks.

Choose Review & download when the page looks right. Follow the review link back to the page if it lists a mark you did not intend to keep. Prepare the download, use Save prepared PDF if the browser does not save automatically, and open the actual file. A flattened download is for sending; keep the original PDF for later form edits.

For a name or reference number, compare every character with the source information. A neat position cannot make a mistyped value correct, and the exported copy is the one the recipient will read.
